{My Fitness Journey} Sunday Run

East Park, Hull

I started running more frequently this past spring when I started training for my first 10k. Now, it’s something that I’ve been trying to just keep as a regular part of my routine. I am not a very fast runner, but it’s something I’ve been working on, and improving! I am trying to lose weight and get stronger. I’ve been keeping track of my steps via my Fitbit, keeping track of my calories on My Fitness Pal, and just trying to hit the gym more and more. I’ve seen loads of progress with myself, in just two months! What are your fitness goals? Are you trying to lose weight? What kind of tools do you use?

Anyway, this morning, I was debating on whether or not I should go running (see my twitter feed). After reading a fantastic fitness and lifestyle blog, Simply Taralynn, I decided to stop being lazy and get my bum out there! The beautiful fall weather was well worth it and running went surprisingly easy. Last weekend, I was in the hospital with a kidney infection, so it was great to be back moving again. Thank God for antibiotics, modern medicine and the NHS!

It was such a lovely day. There were some geese and swans in the lake. Did you know, Queen Elizabeth owns all the swans in England? I didn’t know that this was a thing, but apparently it is!  My run ended up being relatively slow, but I ran 3 miles in 32 minutes! It was great to get some steps in for my new Fitbit charge. I’ve had a Fitbit for 3 or 4 years now, and absolutely am addicted. My last one broke recently, so I had to replace it immediately (by replace, I mean, upgrade). Now I have the charge and it is great. I really like that that it counts steps, as well as stairs and if your phone is ringing, it will vibrate on your wrist. Having it tell you the time is also pretty handy, since my last one (Fitbit One) did not. I highly recommend getting one. They are super motivating!
