The Mediterranean has been beckoning me to come back since I studied abroad in Spain in 2009. The weather, the people, the food and the countryside made such an impression on me that I couldn’t stay away for long. Since moving to the UK, I go back to Spain at least a few times a year. This year, I finally had the chance to visit Barcelona…
My boyfriend and I timed our visit to the Plaza España just right. Sunsets in Barcelona seem to take a long time. The colors were just starting to change and the sky was a beautiful combination of pastels. We walked up the stairs to the Museu Nacional D’Art De Catalunya watch the sunset envelop the city from a high vantage point. It was magical for a few moments. I got lost in watching the horizon until people ruined my daydreams by trying to sell us “beer, agua or coca-cola” five hundred times (no means no, señor).
After deciding that our silent reverie was to be no more, we walked up to the grounds and go explore the Olympic Park. The lighting and coloring of the sky was breathtaking, that both of us could not resist stopping and taking dozens of photos of the display. We are huge photography fans, after all.
This dress was so comfortable to wear the entire day. I had a cardigan with me in my bag, but the weather was so lovely that I only really had to wear it inside air-conditioned buildings. One of the best finds were the sandals. They surprisingly provided enough support to get me through a 2 hour walking tour of the city, as well as walking around Las Ramblas and up to the Plaza España and its million steps.
This evening was such a magical time. Looking at these photos transports me to that moment. I felt such peace, and happiness. Have you been to places before where you can clearly remember all the details of the evening? What sights and sounds still take you back to your favorite place?
